Greetings from PayPal ! This post is about Opportunity Conference 2015 hosted by PayPal in Chennai on November 25th 2015.
PayPal is a world leader in payments and our Chennai engineering center hosts about 1200 employees. As part of our center’s community outreach and social innovation initiatives, we constantly explore ways by which technology can propel social upliftment. Towards that, we hosted an event called “Opportunity Hackathon” in 2014, where 16 NGOs proposed problems that technology can solve. We connected these NGOs with software developers in Chennai, over a period of 36 hours to build out a proof of concept of the technology solutions.
As an extension of this year’s Opportunity Hackathon, we are also hosting “Opportunity Conference”, a day-long event where we are inviting NGOs to our office in Chennai, and have them connect with experts in the social sector. The theme of the conference is to help non-profits improve visibility and help create impact.
The experts will talk on areas such as branding, marketing, employee engagement, donor engagement and technology usage. We plan to invite some established veteran speakers in their respective fields to deliver talks during the conference, and also plan on offering a hands-on workshop towards the end. During the hands-on session, NGOs can work on an ideation sheet or a business plan draft that they could go back implement immediately after the conference. During the hands-on session, the NGOs can also form problem statements that can be solved during the this years’ hackathon scheduled for November 28 & 29. This will also serve as a great opportunity for non-profits to network with each other and learn from experiences.
We also have a very inspiring and nationally famous speaker, to deliver a keynote address during the conference.

Who should attend :
NGO founders or senior decision makers within the NGOs who have influencing capabilities to enact change within their organizations. A detailed agenda is being worked out at this time.
Entry:
A fee of Rs.500/- will be charged per NGO at the venue as cash. Proceeds will be channelized to 2 of the participating NGOs chosen by means of a Lucky Draw.
