Opportunity Hack: Ideas from NGOs

This is the list of ideas submitted by the NGOs for this hackathon. Please read through the list and familiarize yourself with the ideas. These are real and relevant issues faced by the Non Profit Organizations who are participating in this hackathon.

 

AID INDIA

Teach maths to underprivileged and rural children by building a mobile app that will track the math skills learnt by students, and iteratively learn and excel at math skills.

 

AIDE AT ACTION

Contribute to children's education by building a system to track the educational progress of children.

 

ANEW

Create a life long impact on women from underprivileged groups of society by building a platform that will allow them to avail of free training and placements. Build a performance analysis tool that can record participation and performance of the women beneficiaries, and can be presented to prospective employers.

 

BLUE CROSS OF INDIA

Rescue a stray animal by building an interactive multi-channel system that will allow users to intimate Blue Cross about animals in distress, and aid the Blue Cross to systematically & sequentially ensure that all the animals receive help.

 

CENTRE FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

Transform agricultural practices by creating an interactive forum for farmers to be able to access information and ask questions to improve and enhance agricultural practices & output.

 

CIOSA

Drive the discoverability of NGOs by creating a device independent web app that will allow users to find, post and review NGOs.

 

NO FOOD WASTE

Prevent food waste by creating an interactive multi-channel system that will allow people with surplus excess foods from Weddings , Parties, and other events, to contact 'No Food Waste' to donate food, as well as for hungry individuals and institutions requiring food supplies to request help from 'No Food Waste'.

 

PCVC.ORG

Rescue children from exploitative conditions and ensure their proper rehabilitation in family, school and society by creating an interactive platform for PCVC to receive and record calls in a secure manner.

 

RAPID RESPONSE

Provide immediate assistance to people in distress by creating a mapping software that can take in real-time distress calls/tweets/posts/feeds and visualize the geo-location of the distress signals.

 

SENSORS WITHOUT BORDERS

Create communication channels for community volunteers to report environmental pollution to Sensors Without Borders, and earn credits & points for their activism.

 

SURABI

Make a difference to the lives of children by creating a mentoring platform to connect urban children to rural children, and help them to share their lives, experiences and make a connection.

 

SWABHIMAAN TRUST

Bring a smile to an autistic child by creating a system that will ensure that the children get methodical attention, screening and follow up care.

 

TEAM EVEREST

Enable children to receive scholarships by creating a platform where the profiles of the beneficiaries can be shared with the benefactors. The platform should present information about the recipients and create a connection between the donors and the beneficiaries, and match donors to recipients.

 

TRUST FOR YOUTH AND CHILD LEADERSHIP

Facilitate a goal-oriented relationship between a progressing child and a mentor by creating ways to digitally capture the discussions between mentor and child. This will be the sole evidence to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of the program.

 

TTK HOSPITAL

Ensure rehabilitated alcoholics will continue abstinence by creating an interactive system to provide quick response to inbound distress calls and monitor recovery through outbound reminders.

 

YRG FOUNDATION

Save a HIV patient by creating a system that will enable donors to donate funds towards the betterment and treatment of HIV positive patients.
